General Information

  • What are your opening hours?

    6am to 10pm, 7 Days a Week – including all Public Holidays

  • How big are your largest machines?

We have the largest public washer within 400 kms of Mildura!

‘Colossal’ is our 40 kg washer. She can take 8 laundry basket loads in one cycle. Ideal for your large bulk items or a bulk blanket wash. We recommend her for mattress toppers, thick King doonas or Super Kind doonas. She is $24 a load – Cheaper than Dry Cleaning!

Our Mega Dryers are 15kg (3 baskets).

  • Can I put my silk clothing in the dryer?

Silk clothes should not be placed in the dryers. Silk items are to be air dried.  For best results always follow your garments care instructions.

  • Can I put wool items in the dryer?

I dry my wool doona and jumpers in the dryer but on the COOL cycle. It takes twice as long as the HOT cycle but it has not shrank any of my items. The cool cycle gets to a temperature of 55 degrees.

For best results always follow your item’s care instructions.

  • What if I can’t find some of my laundry when I get home?

We will tag any articles left in a washer or dryer for identification purposes – from date of discovery to the specific machine it was found in. We will keep it for up to 30 days. If article remains unclaimed within that time frame, it will then be donated to charity. To claim lost articles, please contact us on 0419 293 245.

TIP: Double check the machines after you unload your clothing. Also spin a washer drum to see if items are stuck on the sides/ top.

  • What’s the best way to dry a lot of laundry?

When you’re short of time, divide the load. The quickest and cheapest way to dry a big load is to put all quick drying light clothing into one dryer and heavy articles into another.

TIP: Where possible, choose dryers that have recently been used and are still warm. This will save you money.

TIP: To dry trousers/ jeans faster, turn them inside out to have the pockets open on the outside.

  • Does your store have WiFi?

Yes. You can access FREE WiFi via our HOTSPOT. While in the store you will find us in the available WiFi networks. Tap on us and follow the prompts. The password is on our office door.

  • Do you have a Pet Washer for dog bedding?

No, we do not offer a Pet Wash.

This is because our laundromat is not large enough to have a dedicated pet machine. We do not allow them in the human washers as animal hair does not wash though the drum but stays in the machine drum – leaving it for the next customer to get hair in their washing. So we have banned pet items from being washed at our laundry.

TIP: We don’t mind Pet Items in the hot dryers as the hair will go through to the lint tray and not affect other users.

  • Are you open public holidays?

Yes, we are! 365 days a year, 6am to 10pm. We are an essential service and get cleaned daily. We are here to help, and we always remain clean and open.

  • Can I dry items only at your laundromat?

YES, of course you can! Our dryers are fast; eco-friendly, gas powered, high air flow and very large 15kg machines.

Clothes washed at home will take a little longer to dry than clothes washed in our commercial washers. This is because domestic washing machines usually spin dry at 16.3 G-force while our commercial washing machines are a minimum of 100 G-force. Regardless how you wash, our commercial dryers take 1/5 of the time and energy that your dryer at home might take.

  • How long does it take to wash and dry my clothes?

Washing takes 24 minutes. Drying apparel can take between 25 to 30 minutes, depending on the thickness of the item. Using our commercial machines, you can get your laundry washed and dried in under 1 hour!

  • Can I use my own washing powder or liquid and fabric softener?

Yes of course, we understand that everyone has different preferences and skin sensitivities. Some like to wash with eucalyptus and white vinegar, while others like bleach and ultra concentrate.  Our machines will take it all and because of the extremely high extraction speeds and the intelligent commercial design, there will be no cross contamination.

We also have a soap vending machine (cash only) that offers an array of laundry powders, liquid and softener to purchase from $2.5 a load.

TIP: If you are using a pod, put it in the drum with the washing and not at the top of the machine where powder/ liquids would usually go.

  • What are your Dryer temperatures?

Glad you asked! Firstly, please always check your clothing labels or you can google care instructions for the fabric.

Our Dryers are set to the following temperatures:

    • Delicate/ Cool = 55° C
    • Medium = 68° C
    • High = 87° C

  • Can I wash delicates?

Certainly, our brand new, state of the art, eco-friendly machines are extremely gentle on your clothes. We recommend the Cool Cycle to be gentler on your clothes but please read your care instructions.

  • Can I wash my Doona or big item?

We have 11 eco-friendly washers to choose from. For large loads we have 3 MEGA 15kg (3 laundry baskets) washers and for even bigger loads we have 4 JUMBO 20kg (4 laundry baskets) washing machines.

If you have a lot of washing, or a very large item, we now have COLLOSAL – the largest washer outside of Melbourne and Adelaide. She is 40kg and takes 8 laundry baskets of washing.

We have the largest number of MEGA and JUMBO washers in Sunraysia and the ONLY place you will find COLOSSAL. That makes us your Doona, and bulky/big item, specialists.

Yes, you can choose from hot, warm or cold water for the same price.

  • Do you have a change machine?

Yes, our machine is for customer use only and can change $2 coins and $5, $10, $20 and $50 notes into $1 coins. *Please do not use damaged notes as it will jam the machine and you will not get change.

  • What payment options are there?

Yes, we are a modern facility with seven security cameras inside and outside the shop. You will see one of the cameras on the TV as you enter, recording you live, 24 hours a day. We also have a security alarm, sensors and our facility is opened and closed daily, in person, by a local Security team – because we appreciate the personal touch.

  • Where are you located?

  • What is usually in your soap vending machine?

We have a variety of laundry powders, eco-friendly detergents, liquid soap, softeners and a changing array of hygiene products and laundry items such as pegs, clothesline, sanitiser, sanitary pads, condoms and more. • How do you use the Air-Conditioner?

The air-conditioner start button is located on the side of the power box, at the front door. Simply push the button and the air conditioner will start up. No need to worry about turning if off when you leave as it is on a timer and will shut itself off.

  • What if I make a mess at the laundry?

Mess happens. Laundry power gets spilt. We do offer some cleaning Items (broom and dustpan) located on the side of the drink vending machine, to clean up any accidents you might have. We appreciate you wanting to help keep our lovely little laundromat looking tidy for the next customers.

For any bigger messes such as too much soap and the machine bubbles up like a kid’s bubble bath or a cord court in the washer door, opening the door seal and flooring the floor, please call us on 0419 293 245.

  • Can I leave my washing and come back?

We do not recommend it, but many people do.

We cannot take responsibility for unattended washing. Other customers do have the right to remove your washing from the machines if they are waiting for one.

  • How often is the laundromat cleaned?

Every morning - 365 days a year!  In busy periods, the laundromat could be cleaned 2 or 3 times in a day!

It is an unattended laundromat, but we do our best to be available. We also regularly maintain all our machines from cleaning up the drains to cleaning out the dryer flues.

  • What is the advantage of using our laundromat washers over a domestic washing machine at home?

    • A great and affordable way to budget home expenses
    • Domestic washers spin dry at an average of 14.6 G-force. Compared to our commercial washers that are bolted to our concrete floor and spin at 100 G-force. (Our $7 10kg washer spins at a massive 200 G-force!)
    • Our wash cycles are a quick 24 minutes.
    • Our washers go up to a 20kg load, ideal for bulky bedding that doesn’t fit in a domestic washer. Don’t just wet your bulky bedding items at home, wash them with us!
    • For large loads of washing, you can start up as many washers as you need, all at the same time, doing ALL the washing in 24 minutes.

If you want to use our high speed gas dryers, a standard 10-15kg load can be dried in 25-30 minutes on High heat. That’s all your washing done in less than 1 hour!

  • What do I do if I need a machine, but it has washing sitting in it, finished?

The rules on entry to our laundromat state that you are in your right to remove the washing to use the machine. If the washing owner wants to leave their washing unattended, its their responsibility/ choice. Please place the other person’s washing in either their laundry basket, a San Mateo Laundromat basket or a black garage bag often hanging from the office door. If all these options are not available, please be mindful of the customer and leave it piled on the folding table.

Trouble Shooting

  • Why did my clothes take too long to dry?

Overloading a dryer with too much laundry will be problematic because clothes need enough room to tumble through the hot air in the dryer or they will take too long to dry.

TIP: It will be faster and cheaper to use two dryers instead of overloading one.

  • How come it didn’t wash right – some of my clothes didn’t get wet?

This is usually caused by overloading the washer. Occasionally when the washer is stuffed so full, water can’t circulate and some of your clothes remain dry!

TIP: It will be faster and cheaper to use the next size washers instead of overloading one and having to go through the washing process again.

  • How do I add clothes to the washer after it starts?

If you have forgotten a sock, you can press the red Emergency stop button on the right side of the washer. Hold the button in as it Beeps and counts down 3 seconds. The machine will then drain and you will hear the door unlock. You can then open the door, put the missing sock in, shut the door and press start again. You can only do this 2 times, after that the wash cycle will be cancelled.

  • I have paid but the machine is not starting?

Check what the screen is telling you.

If it is the dryer, try opening and closing the door again. It could be the white door switch not working correctly.

If it is a washing machine, it might have ‘Close Door’ on the screen. Try opening and closing the door again so the machine knows it is shut. Otherwise, if the washing machine screen has ‘F1’ or ‘F2’ you will need to call us and change machines.

  • Why are my clothes covered in dandruff like spots/ flacks?

This can happen due to the type of laundry powder you use. If you use too much powder or if you overload the machine and the clothes cant wear the powder down as there is no turn space in the machine for them to tumble and rinse properly.

  • Something is caught in the door seal and the machine is leaking.

You can press the red Emergency stop button on the right side of the washer. Hold the button in as it beeps and counts down 3 seconds. The machine will then drain, and you will hear the door unlock. You can then open the door, push the item back into the washer, shut the door and press start again. You can only do this 2 time, after that, the wash cycle will be cancelled and you will have to pay again.

  • Starting the Double Dryers

After paying (via cash or card) press the Top set of buttons to start the top dryer and the bottom set of buttons to start the bottom dryer.

Once you have selected the dryer, the funds can not be moved to another dryer, so please make sure you press the correct buttons.

Every time you add more credit (cash or card) you must press the green Start button again on your dryer, to add to your time.  If you do not press that start button, your money will sit in limbo until someone does press a Start button and they will get the extra time.

  • Card payment Issues

If you noticed you have double tapped or been charged twice on your bank statement, don’t worry. The system will work out you only used one charge on the machine and will refund you the second within 72 hours (3 days).

  • Paying the Dryers with Card

After you select time amount of time you would like to dry for, hold your card up to the centre of the reader screen and wait there until you get 4 green lights. Then remove you card and you will get a green tick. On your dryer, select your temperature and press ‘Start’. If you notice the time is less than what you paid for, press the start button again and the rest will be added – sometime the card reader talks slowly to the dryer (well slower than some people’s fingers can move).

  • Why are the card readers sometime slow to work?

Each yellow card reader box (Nayax) is an added item to our washers and dryers. Each one has their own Sim card (like a mobile phone). These Nayax machines all run on the Telstra network. When Telstra is working on the line or has issues, our card readers can also have issues – like your mobile phone.
